Reflexology
How Can It Help You?
Reflexology is a non-invasive complementary health therapy that can be effective in promoting deep relaxation and wellbeing; reducing stress can be key in optimising good health and building resilience. It is a touch therapy that is based on the theory that different points on the feet and hands correspond with different areas of the body and as a reflexologist I work these points and areas. Treatment time is around 1 hour including a consultation form.

What Is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a type of massage that involves a mixture of
pressure, manipulation and massage to the feet or hands . It’s
based on a theory that these body parts are connected to
certain organs and body systems. People who practice this
technique are called reflexologists.

As a reflexologist, I simply work those reflected areas with my fingers, aiming to bring them back to balance, therefore aiding the body to work as well as it can. Reflexology very much works on an individual basis, the reflexologist provides professional facilitation of your body’s own potential for wellbeing.
What Is Aromaflex?
Aromaflex is a ground breaking therapy which incorporates the use of essential oils in conjunction with Reflexology. I trained in Aromaflex in 2017. I incorporate the use of essential oils in a tailor made bespoke tincture based on individual needs.

I mix up to three essential oils with Songbird Reflexology wax which adds extra luxury to the treatment. Essential oils all have their own healing properties and work in synchronisation with the reflexology treatment. Any left over tincture will be given to you to take home and use at a later date.
History
Whilst the art of reflexology dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China, this therapy was not introduced to the West until Dr William Fitzgerald developed ‘zone therapy’ in the early 1900s. He believed that reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas and organs of the body
within the same zone.
In the 1930s, Eunice Ingham further developed this zone therapy into what is known as reflexology. Her opinion was that congestion or tension in any part of the foot is mirrored in the corresponding part of the body.

Reflexology was first recorded as a pictograph on the
Egyptian tomb of Ankhamor in 2330 BC.

The history of aromatherapy originated around 3500BC. Aromatics were used for religious purposes, perfume, and
medicine. The actual term & quote aromatherapy was invented by the French chemist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse in 1935 after a burn incident which he claimed he treated effectively with lavender essential oil.
What To Expect
My treatment room is a relaxing haven for you to unwind
and receive a healing treatment. If you are chilly I will wrap you up in a soft blanket whilst playing music and I fragrance the air with my essential oil diffuser.

Your first reflexology treatment will last approximately 1 hr
15 minutes, subsequent treatments are 1 hour.
During your time with me I will take a confidential medical
history and discuss your lifestyle. This is very informal and
lets us get to know each other, helping me to build a tailor made treatment for you. You will be asked to sign a consultation form confirming your personal details and
permission for me to treat you.
Before your treatment starts I will ask you to remove your shoes, socks or tights. I cleanse the feet with heated towels treated with tea tree oil. Then begins the Reflexology treatment using the Reflexology wax mixed with up to 3 essential oils and other nourishing accompaniments such as vitamin E capsules and avocado oil.

have increased energy. You are recommended to drink
plenty of water and rest and relax where possible after a
treatment to help with the release of toxins that
Reflexology promotes. The aromatherapy oils continue to
work for up to 24 hours after a treatment as they are
absorbed through the skin.
